The Green Valley Library was the location for the
recent decorating event put on by “Moms Love Quilts”.
The 19 March 2011 affair was their customary procedure
of designing, and constructing assorted quilts.

All the quilts are given away free to any and all
U.S. military veterans.

Their motto is simple and to the point:
“Mending Our Nation One Quilt At a Time”.
This project never charges for its quilts. Any veteran

who walks into a meeting receives one for free.

The group’s two founders, Irena Bell and Tami Leavitt
host all the events and do all the various tasks.
They handle publicity, receive donations, oversee
the quilt construction, schedule all the activities,
and talk with a lot of veterans. In short, this project
is a serious commitment.

The two ladies are assisted by several hard-working

children. They decorate individual quilt squares,
help organize the quilts, and even give the presentation
speeches as they present the quilts to a veteran.
The children on duty to present my quilt were Abigail,

Shanea, and Mikey. They provide much invaluable assistance
to the two founders.

This fine organization is a very grass-roots effort
and thus is always in need of donations, publicity,
and especially gifts of “low loft quilt batting”, and
yardage of cotton fabics. All help and gifts are always

appreciated.

You can contact “Moms Love Quilts” via their web page
which is: www.VetQuilts.com“. That is easy to remember
and to pass along. Any help or gifts you can send to

this organizaion would be hugely appreciated.
They are invited to attend many events and always try
to have enough quilts on hand for the veterans.

This amazing organization has given quilt gifts to many
military organizations and countless individuals.
To name but a few, Green Berets, Code Talkers,
Purple Heart Recipients, Womack Hospital, Thunderbirds,
Wounded Warriors, Nevada Army National Guard,
Buffalo Soldiers, and the Civil Air Patrol.
