This week I have been on a coffee kick and managed to hit three different places in town to check them out and see who’s on first.
First up is a nifty chain called Java Detour. These are new to Las Vegas, and super nice. The decor is extremely inviting and well done. Walking in you feel most comfortable. It is like being in your best friend’s home. Nice menu too — assorted coffees, teas, fruit smoothies, and snacks. The coffee i chose was a tad on the bitter side for my particular taste, but a shot of cream took care of it. There is free wi-fi for the wired set. Visiting this place was a real comfortable hour. The nice girl in charge had it all under control and was very helpful — thanks, Tonia.
Next up was a visit to Panera’s, a fine establishement which has coffees, teas, and lots of sandwiches and cookies. The crew at this location was very busy and working hard. All the cookies and bread are made on the premises so you know you are getting it nice and very fresh. This is a great place to stop and have a great afternoon snack and re-charger. They also provide free wi-fi service and several folks were indulging. My favorite coffee here is the hazelnut — good stuff. We’ve been here several times and love the crew. A tip of the hat to you all. No playing favorites, so no names!!
Our third visit was to the ubiquitous Starbucks. We have visited serveral around town and find them all pretty busy. Needless to say everyone knows of this chain! They seem to have the lion’s share of the coffee bar market. They offer a wide asortment of drinks, and all kinds of snacks. The crews at these places are all very hard-working and handling the counter and the drive-thru. Outdoor seating at most of them. Spring is here, so it’s a great time to visit.
