ALICIA KEYS’ FREEDOM TOUR COMES TO MANDALAY BAY

LAS VEGAS – Twelve-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter Alicia Keys, named one of Billboard’s Artists of the Decade, will bring her Freedom Tour to the Mandalay Bay Events Center Friday, April 9.  The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and also will feature special guests Robin Thicke and Melanie Fiona.

Tickets priced at $130, $90 and $50, not including applicable service charges, go on sale tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. and will be available at all Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino).  Ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person.  To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Mandalay Bay at (877) 632-7400 or Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.  Tickets also will be available for purchase at www.mandalaybay.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Keys’ latest album, The Element of Freedom, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums and Digital Albums charts and No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart.  Keys’ newest release in 2009 sold more than 417,000 albums in only one week, marking the largest first-week sales debut for a female R&B singer last year.  This is the popular musician’s fifth consecutive chart-topping debut.

Over the course of the past few months, radio stations nationwide have frequently been playing five of the more popular songs from The Element of Freedom.  These include “Doesn’t Mean Anything,” “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down,” “Un-thinkable” (with background vocals provided by Drake) and “Put It In A Love Song” featuring Beyoncé.

The Mandalay Bay Events Center is a multi-purpose arena home to championship boxing, premier concerts and special events.  With seating for as many as 12,000, the Events Center offers excellent sight lines and state-of-the-art lighting and sound.  Prominent events have included concerts such as KISS, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, James Taylor, Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, Kenny Chesney and Alejandro Fernandez.  World championship boxing events have featured Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr. vs. Antonio Tarver and Fernando Vargas vs. Shane Mosley.  The Mandalay Bay Events Center also is home to multiple Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events throughout the year, and the annual Tiger Jam event hosted by Tiger Woods.
