Can you say “Pink”?

Cloud Engines’ new PogoPlug is full of funky curves and lots of pink, but don’t let the cute little device fool you.  It is full of capabilities that anyone who travels and needs access to their files while on the road must have.  Well, truth be told, I don’t travel that much, but love it as a network attached device which allows me to share my USB external hard drive with the other computers on my network.

The real beauty of this device (no, not the cute pink color or shapely curves) is the simplicity of setup and how fast it functions. Setting it up is as simple as plugging it in, installing a small piece of software on the computers you want to use it as an installed hard drive and that’s it.  If you want to share the files over the Internet, its as easy as logging into their website, selecting your name and password, and waiting a short while as your files are indexed on their cloud.  After that’s done, it updates automatically as new files are added and you can share the files from anywhere on the Internet by logging into your “my.pogoplug.com” site.  You can even play audio files directly from the web interface if you want.

I use the PogoPlug hard drive to do backups from the other computers on my network and it seems as fast as a hard drive attached directly to the USB port on the same computer. Even though I have only connected one hard drive to the PogoPlug, you can connect up to three USB devices and share them as well.  I have my eye on another terabyte hard drive to just store videos and audios on and will hook it up to the PogoPlug too!

Priced at a mere $129, this is a bargain!  It has definitely made my life easier for backups and I can’t wait to get my next hard drive and hook it up.  I hope they don’t make the same mistake Apple made by offering it in a series of funky colors like the old iMacs used to do :)

Check it out at http://www.pogoplug.com.  It can be purchased all over the Internet from Amazon to many other outlets.
