Andrea51108Andrea A. Dixon was educated at Cleveland State University in journalism with a minor in theater studies. Her pursuit of hands on theater production training began at Karamu Theater in Cleveland, Ohio in 1985 and continued through 2001 in various theaters and acting classes in Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY. She studied professional acting at Van Mar Academy in Los Angeles, CA 1994-96.

As a collaborator on many neighborhood projects Andrea helped bring many stories to life on stage by partnering producers, talent and available theater venues with a show. Sisters, This Property is Condemned, Black Nativity, Joyful, Joyful, Blood Kiss, and The Test are some shows she helped produce. Using her many contacts and skill with show budgeting, she was instrumental in marketing productions to small neighborhood theaters, promoting a limited engagement to boost ticket sales and creating parody for future bids by other theater venues. It was not unusual for her productions to sell packed theaters and extended play dates.

AD03Andrea has also found her skill useful for show promotions in the concert arenas and worked as an independent show promoter in Cleveland in the early 90’s. She originated the City-Wide Celebrity Proclamation Program in which Mayor White would recognize celebrities visiting the city and spotlight their donations and good deeds for ailing neighborhoods. The Mayor would proclaim a special day for the celebrity based on their humanitarianism and the featured celebrity was presented with an award delivered at a press conference by Ms. Dixon. Celebrities honored included Tony Terry, Eric Gable, Alex Bugnon, Shabba Ranks, Chubb Rock, and Jonathan Butler among others.

ADModel2Other skills include, but are not limited to light board operator, properties manager, sound engineer, stage management, production format assistant, professional photography, fictional writing and special events coordination.

Andrea Dixon was nominated in 1997 for best actress in a regional theater for her portrayal of “Edna, Queen of Hearts” in Ted Lange’s production of Four Queens, No Trump.
